Each autumn, the Rotary Club of Lyme Regis lines the Cobb harbour wall with nearly five thousand candles — a breathtaking display that has raised tens of thousands of pounds for local and national charities since the event began.

Dozens of volunteers arrive in the afternoon to place candles in protective holders along every section of the Cobb wall, working in teams as the sun begins to lower.
As dusk falls, teams move along the wall lighting each candle. The harbour fills with a warm amber glow visible from across Lyme Bay — a moment the town looks forward to all year.
Visitors and residents stroll the seafront, listen to music, enjoy refreshments from local stalls, and donate to the nominated charities for the year.
Donations collected on the night go directly to the chosen charities. The Rotary Club announces the total raised, often to great applause from the gathered crowd.
